Founded in 1994, Irvine Consulting Services was built on a simple but enduring premise: businesses deserve IT partners who are competent, accountable, and serious about doing things the right way. Not shortcuts. Not temporary fixes. And not reactive, break-fix support masquerading as managed services.
Today, we provide Managed IT Services, cybersecurity guidance, and strategic technology advisory to organizations with 20–200 employees that view IT as a critical business function and are willing to invest accordingly.
Our Story: Built on Experience, Not Hype
Irvine Consulting Services was founded by Dave Irvine, a University of Michigan graduate whose career spans both the Midwest manufacturing sector and the highly technical engineering environment of the San Francisco Bay Area.
Before starting the firm, Dave served as:
- IT Manager for a steel stampings manufacturer supplying General Motors in Detroit, and
- Systems Administrator for a Berkeley-based engineering firm specializing in pressure vessels and piping systems for oil refineries and nuclear power facilities.
That background matters. It shaped a mindset rooted in engineering discipline, documentation, risk awareness, and operational rigor—principles that still define how we work today.

The company began during the Bay Area’s dot-com expansion, initially as a word-of-mouth consulting practice handling on-call projects. As client relationships deepened and repeat engagements increased, it became clear that reactive IT models weren’t sufficient for growing businesses. Over time, Irvine Consulting Services evolved deliberately from project-based, break-fix work into a true Managed Services Provider, with an emphasis on proactive support, long-term planning, and accountability.
More recently, security, compliance, and risk management have become the most significant drivers of our evolution—reflecting the realities facing modern businesses.
